Out of State Concealed Handgun License Holders

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that Oregon does not honor any Concealed Handgun License from any other state.  So, if you are a new resident to Oregon, you will need to contact the Concealed Handgun Licensing Division of the County in which you reside to apply for an Oregon Concealed Handgun License.  If you do not have an Oregon Concealed Handgun License, you can be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon which is a Class C Misdemeanor.

 

 

 

 

 

1.                   The fee for fingerprinting is $15.00, payable in cash, check or money order, payable to Coos County.

2.                   Photo identification is necessary at the time of your appointment.  Failure to bring photo identification will result in rescheduling your appointment, so make sure you bring your photo identification to your appointment.

3.                   If fingerprint cards are provided by an employer/agency…do not complete them prior to your appointment, our Fingerprint System will print that information on the card for you.

4.                   If fingerprint cards are not provided, our office will provide the necessary card for you.

5.                  If you have been fingerprinted by our staff within the last six months, please advise our staff that you have recently been fingerprinted when you call or mention this to the staff at the time of your appointment as our fingerprint machine may still have your prints on file.

6.                  Only the fingerprint applicant is allowed entry into the Sheriff’s Office, any additional persons who come with the applicant will be asked to remain in the lobby during the fingerprinting.  Exceptions are made for young children, those who need physical assistance, or anyone who needs the assistance of a translator.  Due to the small office and lobby area, we ask that you take this into consideration when you come to your appointment.
